Latvia is a coastal country in northern Europe nestled among its neighbouring Baltic states. Despite its relatively small population Latvia is home to some of europe’s best universities including The University of Latvia and the Riga Technical University. Latvia welcomes foreign students, and 10 per cent of graduates in Latvia are Erasmus students form other European countries.


Latvia is the 148th country by popultation with the total population of 1,925,800 in the latest census. Culture is typical of what is normally found in Baltic region.


Latvia has a temperate climate. Coastal regions, especially the western coast of Courland Peninsula, possess a more maritime climate with cooler summers and milder winters, while eastern parts exhibit a more continental climate with warmer summers and harsher winters.
